Archaeopteryx is considered by many to be the first bird, being of about 150 years of age.                     
when it was unearthed: archaeopteryx was first discovered in 1860 or 1861, when a solitary feather was unearthed from limestone deposits near Solnhofen, Germany.

where it was exuvated: The first archaeopteryx fossil (a feather) was found in 1860 near Solnhofen, Germany, and was named by the German paleontologist Herman von Meyer                                        
archeaopteryx is famous for being the 'missing link' between birds and dinosaurs, because it shares a good deal of characteristics with both birds and dinosaurs.
