where it was exuvated: The first archaeopteryx fossil (a feather) was found in 1860 near Solnhofen, Germany, and was named by the German paleontologist Herman von Meyer
archeaopteryx is famous for being the 'missing link' between birds and dinosaurs, because it shares a good deal of characteristics with both birds and dinosaurs.
