Corn: Almost 85 percent of corn grown in the U.S. is genetically modified. Even Whole Food's brand of corn flakes was found to contain genetically modified corn. Many producers modify corn and soy so they are resistant to the herbicide glyphs, which is used to kill weeds. In addition to being added to innumerable processed foods, genetically modified corn, 92% of U.S. corn is genetically engendered.
Cotton: The latest step in battling pests of genetically engineered cotton has been released. The genetic modification involves adding a bacterium called Bacillus thuringiensis to Cotton. Modified crop varieties with a trait produce a protein that is toxic to some insect larva.
Fish:It is the first genetically modified animal to be approved for human consumption. The fish is essentially an Atlantic salmon with a single gene complex inserted: a growth hormone regulating gene from a Chinook salmon with a promoter sequence from an ocean pout.
