                                                       Location

Temperate forests range across large areas of North America and Eurasia as well as smaller portions of the Southern Hemisphere. Temperate deciduous forests, the “signature” temperate forest type, reach their greatest extent in the eastern United States and Canada, Europe, China, Japan and western Russia.

                                                                 Climate
Climatically speaking, temperate forests tend to experience fairly long growing seasons and decent amounts of rainfall that may be spread fairly evenly across the year or concentrated in a particular season; deciduous hardwoods, which lose their leaves in winter, dominate most major temperate forests.

Red Fox

The red fox has orangish-red fur on its back, sides and head. The red fox mates from January through March. The female will make one or more dens right after mating.

Raccoon

The raccoon has gray to brown fur. It has a black mask around its eyes with white fur around the mask. It has a stripe that runs from its forehead to its nose and white fur around its nose.

White-tailed Deer

The white-tailed deer is tan or brown in the summer and grayish brown in winter. It has white on its throat, around its eyes and nose,  on its stomach and on the underside of its tail. The male has antlers.

Hayas-Fagus is a genus of deciduous trees of the Fagaceae family, native to temperate areas of Europe, Asia and North America, commonly called beech. It has ten species.

Filicopsida-

A fern is a member of a group of vascular plants that reproduce through spores and have no seeds or flowers. They differ from mosses by being vascular, that is, they have specialized tissues that conduct water and nutrients and have life cycles in which the sporophyte is the
dominant phase.

Arces-Acer is a genus of the sapindáceas family, generally known as maples, with about 160 accepted species of the almost 700 described. Some 80 infra-specific taxa of the more than 1250 described are also accepted.

Liquen-

Lichens are organisms that arise from the symbiosis between a fungus, and an algae or cyanobacterium. A third component, a yeast from the Basidiomycota division, has been detected in several cortex.

                      Quantity of light
The average annual temperature decidouous forest is 10'C (50'F).Weather changes throughout the year, however winters have short days with little sunlight.Summer Days are long and sunny.

                                                Quantity of water
The average temperature of the forest is about 50 degrees F.The average amount of rainfall in the forest is 30 to 60 inches a year.As the seasons change,so do the colors of the leaves of the decidous. During the winter months water is generally not available to keep the leaves of some plant alive.

                                        Range of temperature
The average temperature in temperate decidous forests is 50'F (10'C).Summers are mild, and average about 70'F (21'C),  while winter temperatures are often well below freezing . PLANTS: Trees and plants in deciduous forests have special adaptations to survive in this biome.
composition of soil                 These forests have soils called spodosols. They get alot of rain, and when combined with sand, the water leaches minerals and organic matter downward. This leaves an ashy white layers(E horizons).Deciduous forest have soils called alfisols.

Cougar Puma
Females mark their territories using scrape mark, urine and faeces which are also used to attract mates. Males may scrape together a small pile of leaves and grasses and then urinate on it as a way of marking their territory. group of pumas will only contain mothers and their young.

Artic Fox

Arctic foxes mate for life. They choose mates in the early spring--males calling and howling to attract females. Once he has chosen a female, the male Arctic fox stakes out and marks territory to prepare to mate.

Image result for jellyfishJellyfish reproduction involves several different stages. In the adult, or medusa, stage of a jellyfish, they can reproduce sexually by releasing sperm and eggs into the water, forming a planula. ... During this stage, which can last for several months or years, asexual reproduction occurs.

This asexual hybrid should have a tremendous evolutionary advantage over its sexually reproducing forefathers

Strawberry plants reproduce asexually through their stolons, also known as "runners". As the stolons grow out across the ground, they periodically form structures called "nodes". These nodes will attempt to grow roots into the soil.

Adaptations

wolf-The gray wolf has many special adaptations. Their coats are made up of wooly fur to provide insulation and long guard hairs to keep out moisture. The gray wolf's large paws have fleshy pads and claws for traction and can spread to provide better support in snow.

Deer-They have long legs, with strong muscles and ligaments, adaptations that help them sprint up to 30 mph through wooded terrain and jump 10 feet high and 30 feet wide in one bound. This means, while predators may have to run around large obstacles such as fallen trees, the deer are able to leap over them and escape.

Panda-Giant pandas have special adaptations that let them eat mostly bamboo to survive. They have six fingers on their front paws, which help them grab the bamboo and tear off leaves to eat, and have big heads to hold their large, powerful jaws.

Fern-he two primary fern adaptations are the development of rhizomes and compounded leaves. While rhizomes develop horizontally beneath the soil and allow for new plant development, the compounded leaves grow rapidly and take up more space.
Fern
Maple-Acer saccharum has adapted its rooting system to be extremely efficient in obtaining nutrients and water. The roots of a Sugar Maple tree are strong and extensively branched out. They have also been known to develop a mutualism with fungi by forming endo- and ectomycorrhizal associations.

Oak-One adaptation that oak trees exhibit is very deep root systems, which help them find water. This is especially useful in a habitat that's prone to drought. The leaves of many oaks are thick and have small stomata, which reduces the rate of evaporation and water use.
