We know the universe wont last forever because we can look back in time and see how it changed.It take time for light travel from distant galaxies to our telescope,the light is already billions of years old,in many cases.That means that if those telescopes can reach far enough into the universe,we can  the way the universe was billions of years ago.What we see in the galaxies to collide together then they are today ,and everything has been moving away faster and fasteras time has gone
