Diplodocus
How old is the Diplodocus ~ This genus of dinosaurs lived in what is now mid-western North America at the end of the Jurassic period. Diplodocus is one of the more common dinosaur fossils found in the middle to upper Morrison Formation, between about 154 and 152 million years ago, during the late Kimmeridgian age.
When was it unearthed ~ Andrew Carnegie's team of scientists discovered and assembled the first Diplodocus in 1899.
When was it excavated ~ Starting in April of 1916 and ending in July of 1916, Dall DeWeese and two primary workers excavated everything they could find and along the way they determined that the fossils were of a Diplodocus longus.
